About Me

I am a Recovery Life Coach certified in health and life coaching. I received my training from the Health Coach Institute, whose training is accredited by the International Coaching Federation. Also, I hold a Master of Science in Addiction Counseling helping people in recovery through a private practice for the past 6 years.

The Difference Between Counseling & Coaching

My focus is to help families recover from the effects of addiction

  • To help people recover from alcohol or substance addiction by forming new habits that support better health and balance in all aspects of their life.

  • To help family members of those stuck in addiction or in the process of recovering from addiction by giving them tools to manage their lives in a healthy manner.

As a recovery coach, I help people who want to understand the addiction cycle involved in driving their habits that cause trouble in life.

Addiction counseling and recovery coaching are both important components of the support system for individuals dealing with substance use disorders, but they serve different purposes and involve different approaches.

Addiction Counseling:

  1. Professional Background: Addiction counselors are typically licensed professionals with training in psychology, social work, or counseling. They often hold degrees and certifications specific to addiction treatment.

  2. Therapeutic Focus: Counseling often involves therapeutic techniques to address the psychological aspects of addiction. This can include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based practices.

  3. Diagnosis and Treatment: Counselors can diagnose co-occurring mental health disorders and provide treatment plans that may include therapy sessions, group therapy, and referrals to other services.

  4. Structured Sessions: Counseling sessions are usually structured and may follow a specific treatment protocol. The focus is on understanding the underlying issues of addiction and developing coping strategies.

  5. Confidentiality and Ethics: Counselors adhere to strict ethical guidelines and confidentiality laws, ensuring a safe space for clients to discuss their issues.
